INSTALLATION OF ENGINE

Installation of overboard motor.
Many users of their “speed boats” are asking themselves: “is it possible to go even faster?” Yes, it is possible, but most importantly, DO NOT OVERPOVER IT! Most of the boats have limitations as to the most powerful motor that can be used with that boat. Check the boat for the markings, and under Characteristics will be listed maximum motor power that can be installed on that boat. If you have any questions, concerns, or doubts, contact your dealer for information.

Height of transom.
Overboard engine is designed to provide optimal performance according to the passport height of transom. If the transom is too high, then the propeller may work in between water and air and become only partially suspended in water while moving, which sufficiently reduces the motor’s performance characteristics. If the transom is lower than required, then the water drag to the propeller mount will increase, slowing down the boat and decreasing the performance of the motor. Also, the front part of the boat will be elevated from the water to an extent that there will be a possibility of the boat turning upside down, if the engine is too powerful. Standard motor mount presumes that anti cavitation plate and the bilge are parallel to each other, also, anti cavitation plate is usually lower than bilge by 30-50mm. decreasing this value may boost the speed of the boat a little bit, but don’t forget that if the propeller catches air, overall performance of propeller will drastically reduce.

а - Anti cavitation plate
b - The height of transom (381 мм)

Mount the motor in the middle of the transom in accordance to recommended height and fix the motor with the securing line attachment. Make sure that the screws in the locking device are screwed in securely, tightly, and with the same strength.

Motor incline level.

Degree to which the motor is inclined can be adjusted by changing the position of the pintle in the motor clamp (motor-securing line attachment). Position of the pintle must be adjusted only when the motor has been shut off. Incline level of the motor plays an important role in achieving the best performance from the motor and the way the boat will behave when propelled by the motor. Incline must be adjusted so that anti cavitation plate of the motor is placed parallel to the water when the boat is moving, and when the engine is working at its full power and throttle.

Distribution of weight.
Proper distribution of weight (people and cargo) inside the boat sufficiently changes the extent to which the boat performs on water, and the abilities of the boat.

For example:

Putting more weight to the rear of the boat:
•    In general, increases the speed of the boat
•    If too much weight has been put to the rear, the boat may start to hop (jump)
•    Front of the boat will smash small waves
•    The wave that the boat creates will increase in size

Putting more weight to the front of the boat:
•    Will smooth out the motion
•    The boat will become more stable in higher wave waters.
•    Overloading will cause the boat to swerve left or right
